Making Space

Dance in public space

The Making Space Week is an annual research, inspiration and meeting week about dance in the public space. Every year in October, just before it gets really wet and cold, choreographers and dancers resident in one of the neighborhoods in Tilburg to investigate what their work can mean there. Streets, squares and parks become their field of activity. They show us how we look at our environment and how we experience it. Just like last year, they land this year on the grounds behind the station and in the Theresia district. Again in this residential area because they saw how beautiful it was to take the rhythm of the day in their work. But also because they feel that they are not finished yet with discovering this district.

In addition to the seasoned choreography duos Vloeistof and The100Hands, the young choreographer Evangelos Biskas will take part, just as choreography students Lucas Devroe and Liza Sulaiman. Just like the dancers they are students of the Fontys Dance Academy.

Making Space is a project of DansBrabant and Fontys Dance Academy within the network Tilburg Dansstad.

The next Making Space Week will be from October 12 – 16 2020 and will be have been preceded by teh Micro and Macro Dramaturgies in Dance workshop intensive from September 20 – 27.
