Digital Intimate Theatre
Sensuous digital experience, in which you explore on your own the different meanings of touch
With the online project DIT (Digital Intimate Theatre), The100Hands questions the foundation of all its work, in which "the value of the physical live encounter with yourself, the other and the environment" is always recognised and explored.
Together with filmmaker Eva Sjerps, it explores how digital theatre can nevertheless also evoke the intimacy of the live encounter. Not as a replacement for live contact, but as a stimulating exercise to play with it.
The first edition of DIT is specially made to watch at home and on your own, at a time that suits you. Whether you are in quarantine, the theatres are closed, you want some 'me-time' or just prefer to be on your own, DIT is for you.
THIS is not made for passive viewing. Narrator Jasper Džuki Jelen invites you to actively shape your own experience. DIT guides your attention to where you are physically in that moment, to the sensations in your body, to the meaning you give to them, and how emotion and the need to act or not to act arise and change.
Jasper asks you to scan certain objects in your immediate environment, but also to get off your chair and subject parts of your room to a tactile examination. Stories and questions provide these actions with (new) meaning.
You constantly have the freedom to decide how you want to interact with DIT. The structure supports a relaxed, restful state of being, from which you can experience the phenomenon of touch with curiosity.
If you have already experienced THIS or already know that THIS is all for you, you also have the option of extended access. The choice is yours.
After your order, you will receive an email from us with a link to DIT's online environment. You will only have access to DIT for a limited time. Depending on your chosen option, this varies from one week to one year, from the moment you first log in and start working with DIT.
- In the online environment you will find useful tips to make the most of DIT, give yourself some time for these simple preparations.
- DIT does not require you to download, but stream online and lasts 45 minutes.
- Afterwards, we offer you several opportunities to reflect on your experience. For example, we have a number of questions ready for you, but you can also share a thought or question, or participate in a live zoom session with the narrator and other participants of DIT.
If you want to do all the steps in a row, we recommend you set aside over an hour for that. The Zoom meeting falls outside this and happens at a set time, which you can sign up for.
