Bakaneko
Bakaneko
Bakaneko is a documentary performance about trauma and how it stores itself in the body. How does a body speak where superficially there is not much wrong with it, but under the skin there is pain, fear and sadness?
Interviews, reporting and atmospheric images provide the initial input for a physical performance in which documentary realism and imagination skim past each other. Building on the experience of whatchamacallit she uses image, sound and live performance to create an intimate yet horrifyingly lonely world. A museum-like set-up and minimal distance between player and audience ensure that even the gruesome cannot be avoided.
