Landing of Feathers
By Jija Sohn
In Landing on Feathers, 3 care workers and artists share their perspectives on embodied care practices from personal and collective experience.
In May 2021, choreographers and performers Jija Sohn and Aleksandra Lemm, with researcher and dramaturg Julia Reist, began a creative research project in collaboration with visual artist Elmer Kouwenberg, whose body was paralysed in a car accident 28 years ago.
With their project, Jija, Aleksandra and Nica Roses, who is also a performer and carer of Elmer, take the audience on an exploration between their dance training and the physicality of their involvement as carers of Elmer.
Within the practice, limitations are not simply experienced, but deeply acknowledged throughout, as an intrinsic part of the practice. Their intention is to invite you to experience what belongs to everyday life through a participatory practice, within a theatrical landscape, to taste the ordinary together in an extraordinary way.
