I is an Other
One is the choreographer, the other the dancer. In I is an Other Arno Schuitemaker and Mitchell-lee van Rooij are on stage together. They engage in a dialogue in which movements, thoughts, images, sounds and music ingeniously intertwine. The refreshing perspective, pulsating rhythm and inventive lighting design make I is an Other both earthy and hallucinatory.
Inspired by the poetry of recent scientific discoveries, Schuitemaker created I is an Other by exploring how metaphors make connections in our brains and showing the multiple power of the moving body. By bringing choreographer and dancer together and uniting form and content, he also depicts what a metaphor does: make one exist in the context of the other.
