GLORIOUS BODIES

By Piet Van Dycke

GLORIOUS BODIES is a physical, moving and hopeful performance about the carrying capacity of our bodies, about seeing and being seen and about the border between classical and contemporary circus. Six acrobats between 53 and 67 share their art, their skills and their care for each other. Circus history archived in the body.

Most acrobats stop training intensively after a certain age. What does ageing mean for the most perfect bodies? Does it manage to find harmony with a more fragile body? GLORIOUS BODIES offers an intimate look at the process of ageing.

GLORIOUS BODIES departs from movement and partner acrobatics. But no high-stakes and powerhouse moves here. Rather, the performance is a search for physical limits and a process of trial and error. GLORIOUS BODIES is about the power of the ageing body and breaks clichés surrounding the 60+ generation.
