All about DansBrabant
Who we are
DansBrabant is a development site for contemporary dance - rooted in Tilburg, anchored in the region and with feet in the (inter)national dance field.
We feel a kinship with makers who tug and tinker at the boundaries of dance. Makers who question and stretch the discipline. They often seek collaboration with other art disciplines: film, literature, visual art, sound or lighting design, or are influenced by other genres. Sometimes they connect with the social field such as care, environment, welfare. The body is and remains the first point of departure.
We are part of the urban incubator Makershuis Tilburg, permanent partner of the performing arts talent hub PLAN Brabant and one of the founders of the national dance network Moving Futures. We are also a member of EDN, the European dance development network.
What we do
DansBrabant supports choreographers on their way to a strong professional practice. The makers we work with each have their own vision and formal language. What binds them is a fascination for the language of the body and an idiosyncratic view of the discipline. With each of them we have a multi-year relationship and each trajectory is tailor-made. We take a broad approach to talent development: we always place the growth of an artistic signature in connection with production, audience and presentation, business organisation and strategy, and social positioning.
In addition to working with core makers, we offer space for short residencies. Often, projects that DansBrabant (co)produces result from the research that takes place at our house.
Apart from collaborations with makers, DansBrabant initiates its own projects and programmes throughout the year - in-house or with partners.
DansBrabant has two studios, a kitchen and a living room - Club SoDa - where you can meet, work and present plans. Our house is in the middle of the neighbourhood and is a place for everyone. A growing community of local residents is involved in our initiatives. Conversely, we ourselves are involved in the liveability of our neighbourhood.

Remuneration policy
The DansBrabant Foundation operates according to the Cultural Governance Code. We have a board model, our board members work unpaid. The Fair Practice Code is leading in the remuneration of both salaried and freelance staff, and we follow the Collective Labour Agreement for Theatre & Dance.
